Workshops & On Site Trainings
ABASI is available to conduct workshops for athletic trainers.
Workshop prices vary based on the location of the workshop and the number of individuals attending.
Workshops are a great way to provide general information to a large number of staff about different ABASI methods and general information about coaching using behavior analysis methods and data based intervention.
All of the above services ABASI provide focus on the following core principles:
- Spreading the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to athletic training in a user-friendly manner.
- Giving you, the client, many options as to what procedures you would like to learn, or what option of learning or consulting works best for you.
- Catering the learning environment to athletic trainers, and catering interventions to what works best for your training environment and athletes.
- Providing support through all stages of the process, so that athletic trainers can feel confident and supported while learning about the science of behavioral coaching.
Using the Principles of Behavior Analysis to Enhance The Performance of your Athletes
Note: participants will not learn how to implement any specific ABASI interventions during this workshop.
This workshop will provide in depth information about general techniques of behavior analysis and how you can use these when training athletes (i.e.: different types of reinforcement, motivating operations, antecedent manipulations, feedback, shaping, etc.). This workshop will cover multiple concepts such as those in an undergraduate Fundamentals of Applied Behavior Analysis class at a college level, but all examples will be catered to athletic training. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to interact with trainers and others through role-plays and learning embodying multiple different formats (i.e.: written, visual, kinesthetic). Following participation in this workshop, participants will be able to confidently discuss basic ABA procedures and how they can generally be used to enhance athletic training.
An Overview of Data Based Sports Training & Analysis
This workshop will provide in depth information about research in behavioral journals as applied to sports training. Multiple procedures will be discussed with specifics about each study. Future directions of sports research will be discussed along with a description of current studies and research. Following participation in this workshop, participants will be able to discuss how ABA has been applied to enhance sports performance and have a selection of different procedures to read about for further information.
Using Auditory Feedback to Enhance Performance of Athletes
This workshop will provide in depth information about the use of auditory feedback in athletic training to enhance athletic performance. Multiple research studies will be discussed with specifics about each study. Participants will learn how to conduct auditory feedback, peer auditory feedback, and will even be given guidance and supervision during the workshop to conduct these procedures and receive feedback from an ABASI consultant. Participants will also be taught how to collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of an auditory feedback intervention, and be taught and provided supervision for role-plays of this task.
Increasing Athlete Motivation: Behavior Analyst Tips and Tricks
This workshop will provide in depth information about how behavior analysts use the principles of “motivating operations” to change behavior of clients, and then specifically apply this to athletic training. Multiple research studies will be discussed with specifics about each study. Participants will learn about research in ABA and sports training, which used principles of motivating operations to enhance athletic performance. Participants will learn how to conduct some of these procedures themselves (such as Public Posting), and will given the opportunity to rule play procedures and receive feedback. Motivation is such an important aspect of athletic training, which is commonly overlooked. Following this workshop, participants will know how to think like a behavior analyst to enhance the motivation of those they train.
Feedback! An Overview of Current Methods of Feedback in Athletic Training and Proposed ABA Solutions to the Deficits
This workshop will provide an in depth analysis of current methods of feedback used in athletic training (data provided), and assess areas of needed improvement. Participants will learn about a variety of research studies and how different methods of feedback were utilized to enhance athletic performance. In addition, participants will learn how to implement the ABASI procedure of video modeling and video feedback and receive training and supervision during the workshop through the use of role-plays. Participants will also be taught how to collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of a video modeling video feedback intervention, and be provided supervision for role-plays of this task by an ABASI consultant.
